MANAGER OF DRAMA DEVELOPMENT
July 25, 2016

Omnifilm Entertainment is seeking a Manager of Drama Development to play an important role within our team which develops and oversees scripted television series for the Canadian and international market.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized and experienced in providing notes on creative documents ranging from short proposals to full scripts. A familiarity with and existing relationships within Canada’s writer community (across the spectrum from experienced showrunners to up-and-coming talent) will be an important asset. The ability to effectively and passionately communicate your unique perspective on the eclectic range of material which our team considers and develops is essential. A keen awareness of what the market is looking for (within Canada and in key foreign markets), and which projects are already being developed and produced by buyers worldwide is also an ongoing requirement of this position. And of course, you must love television to excel at this job!

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Systematically organize evaluation and follow up of projects at all stages of development
• Solicit, evaluate and/or originate scripted properties to add to Omnifilm’s slate
• Maintain current knowledge of the worldwide television Marketplace and share with development team
• Prepare pitch packages
• Provide creative input into projects in funded development (including script feedback)
• Nurture and maintain positive relationships with television writers in Canada, the US and the UK
• Liaise with literary agents in Canada, the US and the UK
• Work with Partners, Showrunners and Broadcasters to ensure a seamless transition from development to production

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
• 4+ years' industry experience, including scripted development, media research and related duties
• The ideal candidate will also have experience in at least one other scripted market outside of Canada, such as the United States or United Kingdom.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Post-secondary degree in related field
