Job Description

The Post Production Manager oversees all aspects of mitú’s Content Studio post-production and coordinates the edit, sound and CG portions of all projects. He or she is an integral part of the production process, and is looped into all discussions along the production timeline. The Post Production Manager is responsible for the time allocations of all studio artists, in-house editors, and equipment; works with producers to determine when out-of-house and freelance resources are required, and manages the processes therein, including POs, requisitions and new hire requests (freelance), and ensures that jobs are delivered as scheduled and to spec. The position is fully responsible for the oversight and organization of project delivery documents for the producer and to oversee the proper storage of picture and audio masters.

Most of all, this role demands an individual that is highly organized, diligent, and able to see the big picture while maintaining a solid grasp of the smaller details. The position reports to the Head of Production

What to Expect

On the job, you should be prepared for a hectic pace under strict deadlines; part of the Managers function is to keep the numerous departments involved in the post process on schedule and working efficiently toward completion. To that end, you are expected to handle minor emergencies with grace and to quickly deliver creative solutions to complicated problems.

Our in‐house content studio allows us to create a wide range of video, motion, audio, 3D and computer graphics tailored to our exacting standards, at costs that are much lower than those accrued by hiring an outside production company. It consists of digital editors, animators, motion‐graphics specialists and producers with new media experience who work together to conceive, create, and produce work that supports Mitu’s vision and voice.

On any given day you might

Work with Post Production Resourcing and Scheduling 50%
-Schedule and maintain video and audio editors’ time and project schedule, with Head of Production’s oversight and approval
-Ensuring allocations on the editor / stage resource whiteboard gets into the global resource allocation sheet online.
-Meet with in house producers to allocate live action editing jobs to editors
-Ensure each freelancer is set up correctly within Mitu (passwords and paperwork)
-Provide editor project hours to Producer
-Scout and maintain database of internal VO talent

Post Team Oversight 20%
-Ensure each Project has been fully delivered to the requested specs
-Post deliverables to cloud and ftp as needed
-Curate reels/wiredrives of studio work (new business, PR, internal communications, etc)
-Maintain server location and consistent naming of projects

Content Studio Archive Admin 10%
-Work with Head of Production / Systems lead on overall Studio archive system (identifying projects to archive, prepping and/or restoring projects from archive)
-Maintain LTO archive tape library
-Responsible for maintaining available active storage on SAN (“watching the gauges”)
-Work with Producers and Editors to confirm projects are ready to be moved from active storage to archive, as jobs complete
-Locate, collect, and confirm previous video assets as requested

Systems Admin 10%
-File naming organization and optimization
-Standardizing Content Delivery Guidelines for internal and external Producers
-Point of contact for Editor IT / Systems needs
-Planning of and coordination of user advocate for editorial & sound needs (software, hardware upgrade / new needs)

Outside vendors 10%
-Outreach to vendors for Post projects (VO agencies, transcription houses, etc)
-Rent equipment/decks/speakers/etc, purchasing of hard drives, etc, when needed

The ideal person
-Knowledge of traditional and new media production models
-Conversant in relevant Post Production pipeline, methodologies, technologies, software and hardware
-Knowledge of LTO tape archiving systems and ability to apply knowledge to a range of projects
-Knowledge of media delivery for broadcast, web, and new media applications
-Effective communication at all levels
-Balancing team collaboration and leadership
-Strong project management, planning and organizing
-Understanding of the broader agency landscape/goals and project contextualization
-Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure and on short deadlines
-Demonstrated management skills and ability to work with creatives, artists, editors, client management, agency producers and clients
-Proactive personality, self-starter

You Bring:
4-6 years specific post-production experience, working closely with editorial, sound, and graphic artists in a production studio, post house or advertising agency
