Minimum 2 year broadcast captioning experience a must. Excellent command of the English language, including slang and colloquial expressions. Skills should include editing/proofreading, good judgment, problem solving ability, and an engaged and creative attitude.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generating high-quality broadcast caption files in a timely manner, usually working with a transcript or script (occasional transcription) using MacCaption.
Ability to transcribe English audio accurately at 50 WPM or faster
Research and confirm spellings of specialized terminology and proper names
Review captioned programs (your own and others’) for accuracy, synchronization of captions with audio, completeness, and screen placement.
Manage work/delivery schedule
Communicate with clients
Maintain efficiency and quality
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum two year experience with closed captioning - Familiar with MacCaption
Vast knowledge of closed captioning regulations
Excellent command of English grammar and spelling
Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills
Familiarity with technology, including Microsoft Office and a variety of nonlinear video players
Comfortable with being self-directed and focused on a single project
High attention to detail
Multi-tasker with the ability to perform under high time pressure
Ability to adapt to fast-paced environment
