Job Description

Overall Responsibilities:
The PM is directly responsible to the Producer, is the representative, and works in close cooperation with the 1st AD during shooting.
The PM is the behind-the-scenes expediter and, with the direct input from the Producer, Director, Production Designer, and department heads, is responsible for budgeting, scheduling, and arranging all production elements, – staff, crew, cast and materials – in the most efficient manner possible, and arranging payments thereof. The PM is employed on all feature productions and on productions for which the Director requires the services of a PM, and for a sufficient period in order to satisfactorily carry out pre-production, production, and post-production responsibilities.

Duties During PRE-PRODUCTION:
1. Learning to use the production software.
2. Reading and annotating the script in the context of production management, especially for budgeting and scheduling.
3. Budgeting productions, – estimating the total budget based on itemized or departmental estimates of required material and personnel, plus a duration-of-shooting estimate.
4. Preparing a sequential scene-by-scene script breakdown, listing leading, supporting and regular cast members (actors speaking 6 or more lines), bit players (actors speaking 5 or less lines) and extras (non-speaking actors), sets needed, location sites needed, set dressings, props, costumes, makeup, camera(s), types of lighting and grip equipment, specialized equipment, and special effects needs, etc.
5. Obtaining lists of specific items, of personnel and materials, required by and from each department (Art, Construction, Set Dressing, Props, Wardrobe, Camera, Lighting, Grip, Sound, Special Effects, Transportation, etc.
6. Preparing a shooting schedule for budgetary purposes.
7. Scheduling the production.
8. Hiring technical personnel required for the production.
9. Acquiring a thorough knowledge and understanding of the agreements and contracts the company, 3 Angel Media, has for it’s actors, crew, any other individuals employed for the production or the company, and it’s vendors.
10. Negotiating deal memos with technical personnel.
11. Selecting, arranging for clearances, permits, etc.
12. Selecting, arranging for and overseeing the preparation of location sites and sets.
13. Seeing that necessary contracts, deal memos, permits, releases and clearances are prepared, signed and adhered to.
14. Ordering sets and props built or obtained, and costumes fabricated or obtained.

Duties During PRODUCTION:
1. Expediting and coordinating, with the 1st AD, the work of all production departments at all times.
2. Arranging sequences to be shot in the most expeditious, efficient, safe and economical order practicable.
3. Giving daily and timely advance notification to the cast and crew for the next-day work calls, – time and place, order of scenes to be shot, sets to be used, equipment to be used, personnel required and when, and other job requirements. The call sheet software Koala will help provide these items on its produced call sheets, with little or no modifications, which can then be distributed to staff, crew and cast.
4. Procuring and returning supplies and equipment.
5. Coordinating the activities of Unit PMs, if any.
6. Arranging transportation for staff, cast, crew(s) and material.
7. Arranging for quarters and subsistence for staff, cast and crew(s).
8. Keeping time sheets for staff, cast and crew(s).
9. Authorizing all purchase/lease/rental orders and expenditures.
10. Disbursing company funds for the production.
11. Seeing that the paperwork for all payroll and approved expenditures are regularly sent to Production Accounting for recording and payment.
12. Seeing that payroll checks and receipted reimbursements are distributed to staff, cast and crew on a timely basis.

Duties During POST-PRODUCTION:
1. Seeing that any procurements and expenditures for post-production are sent to Production Accounting for recording and payment.
2. Making sure that all company property is accounted for, that all billing has been sent to Production Accounting for payment.
3. Carrying out other duties that may asked by the Producer.
