Job Description

Vice President – Celebrity and Influencer Strategy

We are looking for a strategic thinker, a charismatic leader, who can lead multiple projects and marketing campaigns. Octagon needs a creative expert in the world of celebrity influencers who can spearhead multiple projects and marketing campaigns and who thrives in an environment in which they are constantly challenged. Octagon advises leading consumer brands, corporations, non-profit organizations and their marketing agencies by assessing the value of a celebrity, negotiating partnerships and activating the program. The Vice President will lead the account teams in identifying, prioritizing and scoping client opportunities. This position will be based in New York or Los Angeles.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Works with brands to determine and identify goals, objectives and strategies
• Analyzes client consumers, competitors, market and trends through market research and other secondary resources
• Creates clear, concise and compelling content for client presentations, POVs and other deliverables
• Participates in the development and delivery of new business proposals
• Provides strategic counsel to clients on the larger impact and day-to-day tactics of digital and social media
• Executes influencer campaigns including strategy creation, industry research, internal vetting, outreach, contract negotiations, asset development and project management
• Leverages talent relationships to benefit client programs
• Trains and manages junior staff
• Utilizes research and knowledge of celebrities/pop culture to recommend celebrity talent to support client’s marketing objectives (including and not limited to chefs, actors, musicians, directors, athletes, designers, social stars, etc.)
• Formulates marketing strategy to maximize the client’s use of the celebrity talent
• Manages the day-to-day relationship between the client and the celebrity talent
• Acts as primary point of contact for the talent agency; work with agency to implement marketing programs
• Develops, negotiates and manages letters of intent and long form agreements

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in a related field
• 7-10 years agency/or related experience (preference from a lifestyle/celebrity-focused public relations agency and/or marketing agency) with ability to bring brand relationships for new business opportunities
• Known history of negotiation success
• Demonstrated understanding of the marketing business; promotions, public relations and advertising including experience building brands and running marketing programs
• In-depth knowledge of the social media space including influencer knowledge, platform identification and usage and timely knowledge of trends
• Strong pop-culture knowledge across all industries (music, entertainment, chef, fashion, sports, etc.)
• Strong relationships with talent, managers, publicists, agents and talent themselves
• Internet and social media savvy; knowledge of blogging, widgets, twitter, google search, facebook, etc.
• Strong organization and time management skills to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
• Exceptional people skills, able to gain and maintain the trust and confidence of individuals within and outside Octagon
• Analytical thinker, able to problem solve multi variable tasks
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Able and willing to travel frequently
