Job Description

"Broken Land" is an episodic series for which we, Brooke Tibbs and RJ Batlle, developed both a pilot and two-season treatment. This project is close to our hearts for many reasons, and we'd love to bring a producer on board who knows how not just how to get a project made, but to make the process as fulfilling and efficient as possible for everyone involved.

Broken Land is a naturalistic comedy/drama about a handful of Brooklynites striving for connection, often in cringe-worthy, emotionally disastrous ways. Using a meandering narrative style, Broken Land blends elements of ensemble shows like Girls with the compassion and humor of High Maintenance. But where these cultural forebearers maintain their respective scopes and foci (a group of 4-6 friends, the random customers of a weed delivery guy) Broken Land shifts focus, gradually concerning itself with an ever-shrinking group of people from which a couple will emerge and find themselves both very much in love and socially isolated from their friends. Over the course of season one this couple will become the central focus of the show, and the arc of their relationship will comprise the entirety of season two.

Project shoots June 9 - 12, followed by an early-fall Seed & Spark campaign to fund the creation of season 1.
Budget: Shoestring, partially deferred
Responsibilities: All facets of production coordination and logistics, knowing we'll get our hands dirty as well. We're looking for someone who resonates with our script and is excited to be a part of a project starting from the ground level. An overview of responsibilities includes casting coordination, permits, props, contracts, managing PA's, keeping the shoot on schedule.
Length: 20-25 minutes (future episodes will be about half this length)
Anticipated release: 9/1
Union: No.
Locations: Most important locations are 80% donated by friends (thus the shoot date). Almost all are in North Brooklyn.
Cameras: 4K iPhone(s) using a cinema lens system
How we work: The production team lives on Slack (die email, die!), Trello, and Google Docs.
