Job Description

Whitehorse, Yukon

Contract position

Non-union, freelance for documentary televisions series, small crew

Rate negotiable based on experience

Range $25 / hour to $275+/ day based on experience

Part-time with potential for full time, starting with 2 - 3 days per week

Starting Date: Jan 8th or 15th, 2024 (flexible)

End Date: approx. March 2024 (to be confirmed)

Responsibilities:
- Contacting participants and suppliers, assisting in organizing shoots
- Assisting the Director on shoots by communicating with participants and completing releases
- Assisting with equipment tracking and shipping
- Assisting the Production Manager with vehicle bookings and travel logistics
- Taking notes, tracking stories, and communicating with the creative and logistics teams
- Willing to help out with whatever is needed on a small crew, occasional other duties may include: changing batteries, - slating, greeking, mini-cams, petty cash, errands, crafty, supply runs, shipping, etc.
- Updating various tracking documents, reporting to the creative and logistics team
- Communicating daily with the production office and field crew

Requirements:
- Must be Whitehorse based, has lived in the Yukon for at least one year (paid 2023 taxes in the Yukon)
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Has some film, television or commercial filming experience or event coordination experience
- Has a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken English
- Laptop and cell phone
- Vehicle in good working order, insured to use for work
- Comfortable with Google drive, Google sheets, Google docs, and email
- Comfortable with both production office and on-set duties

Beneficial Skills / Background / Assets:
- Factual / documentary television credits preferred
- Proactive, resourceful, strategic, conscientious, considerate, organized, outgoing
- Journalism, Research, story producing, writing, filming, production, event or Produciton coordination
- Excellent people skills, ability to manage relationships and handle sensitive situations
- Comfortable juggling multiple changing priorities, ability to stay calm under pressure, move quickly and communicate clearly
- Able to take a proactive approach, identify potential issues and problem solve on the fly
- Positive attitude and willingness to help out and support fellow crew members and shoots needs with whatever is needed in the moment
